Christopher's father was James Patrick Carr and his mother was Audrey Winifred Chesney.  His paternal grandparents were Maurice Frederic Carr and Isobella Clinch; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Chesney and Elisabeth McCardle. He has six brothers and three sisters, named James, Michael, Dennis, Terence, Martin, Anthony, Susan, Collette and Brenda.
