      DNA    Wikipedia

DNA can:          Solve "brick walls" in your research

Prove or disprove theories regarding ancestors

               Identify others who are related

Determine a location for further research

       Validate existing research

How did I do it:  You can use any DNA laboratory you wish, DNA Heritage were recommended to me, but have since been taken over by: Family Tree DNA

I ordered a free sample kit from DNA Heritage (Family Tree DNA).          http://www.familytreedna.com/

They posted it to me in Ireland

In the kit were 3 Q-tip like swabs. I followed the instructions and brushed the swabs on the inside of my cheeks for about 30 seconds,  the cells are easily and painlessly rubbed off onto the swabs.

The swabs are placed in the supplied  envelope and posted back to Family Tree DNA in the USA.  You get the results in a few weeks.

If you join the Carr DNA Project you will get a special rate by being a member and your results are also sent to the project so that they can be compared with the other members. I choose the maximum number of markers  43 under "Option Two".  There are many more better options and special offers from time to time at Family Tree DNA

Why not try it.

Help develop a DNA database for future researchers
